Automated Generation of Custom Views for SysML v2 Models Using Higher-Order Transformations

Abstract
Exploring large SysML~v2 models is challenging due to their size and complexity, as answering analysis questions often requires manual navigation across many interconnected elements. Therefore, this paper proposes an approach for automatically generating custom views that support model exploration based on the analysis needs of system engineers. The approach enables the definition of view configurations through parameterized specifications, which are used to generate executable templates for producing interactive views over SysML~v2 models. These views allow engineers to explore model elements and relationships through different modeling concerns and levels of detail without manually traversing the underlying model.The main contribution is an automated mechanism for generating view templates from specifications, removing the need to manually develop separate transformations for different view configurations. A proof-of-concept implementation demonstrates that the approach can generate and execute such views across different analysis scenarios.
