Behavioral Modeling in EAST-ADL2 and the Support for Formal Verification

AST-ADL2 is a domain-specific architecture description language to support the model-based development of automotive embedded systems. It emerged to manage the complexity of software and electronics in advanced automotive applications. The language focuses on the structural definition for functional specifications. Behavior is defined only on the component level, in terms of functional blocks and their triggers and interfaces. The behavioral definition inside each functional block is not prescribed. This type of specification is left to external tools, e.g., Matlab/Simulink, StateFlow, Modelica.There is an ongoing work task in the MANEAD project to provide a natural behavioral modeling package for EAST-ADL2. The main responsible partner is KTH. We have defined a behavioral annex to support various formal verification methods, including UPPAAL. This presentation briefly introduces the EAST-ADL behavior annex and shows the model transformation to SPIN, a logic model checker for distributed software systems.
