The MADMan project targets real-time data management in industrial automation and automotive systems. The project is a continuation on the COMET and INCENSE projects in which real-time database management mechanisms and real-time data management were adressed. With the increasing complexity of modern embedded systems, the amount of information that the systems handle increase rapidly. This increase is further accelerated when previously closed monolithic systems open up and become part of a connected environment where systems communicate with each other. By providing database access with hard real-time performance, real-time database management systems can be incorporated in these systems thereby enabling embedded systems to safely communicate through well established standard interfaces.
