Mustafa Hashmi (not working at IDT anymore)


Mustafa Hashmi is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Mälardalen University, Västerås, Sweden. He received his bachelor degree in Computer Science from Allama Iqbal Open University (A.I.O.U), Islamabad, Pakistan in 2000, and MSc. in Information Technology from faculty of information technology, Northern University of Malaysia (UUM) in 2004 respectively. After graduation he worked in industry in various capacities in Germany and Portugal. Mustafa received his PhD in computer science from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia in 2015 with his thesis titled: "Evaluating Business Process Compliance Management Frameworks". Before joining Mälardalen University as postdoctoral fellow, Mustafa worked as Research Engineer at Data61, a business unit of CSIRO Australia, where he actively contributed to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) project for the automation of Australian legislation for small and medium enterprises. 

Mustafa regularly disseminates his research results, which have been published at various international venues including Enterprise Information Systems Journal (ISF) and conferences e.g., RuleML (2012 and 2014), ASSRI (2013), and EDOC (2015) etc. He also actively contributes to professional and scholarly activities, and is reviewer for ACM Transaction on the web (TWEB), ACM Transaction on Management of Information system (TMIS), Journal of Software Engineering, Australasian Journal of Information Systems (AJIS), RuleML and EDOC conferences. He also served on the judging panel for Yound ICT Explorers event 2016 organised by Digital Careers, Australia.

He is a member of IEEE Computer Society (since 2015-), OASIS Legal RuleML Technical Committee (since 2011-), Canterbury Software Cluster, New Zealand (since 2012-), and Association of Computational Linguistics (since 2015-). 

Mustafa's research interests include, but not limited to, automation and analysis of business processes (simulation, monitoring, and mining), web services, service-oriented architecture, business process compliance management, legal informatics, classical logics, model and defeasible logics, non-monotonic reasoning and their applicatons to solve complex problems in large-scale enterprises.
