Anwar Ur Rehman , Postdoctoral research fellow


Anwar Ur Rehman is a Research Fellow at Mälardalen University and a member of the Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems (AIIS) research group. His research focuses on computer vision, deep learning, and applied artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on object detection, segmentation, and domain adaptation for industrial automation. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Insubria, Italy, where he developed robust and scalable AI solutions for real‑world applications.

He has authored more than 18 peer‑reviewed publications in leading Q1/Q2 journals and international conferences, and his work spans industrial inspection, medical imaging, hyperspectral analysis, and intelligent automation.

At MDU, he is currently engaged in collaborative research projects with Volvo and Ericsson, contributing to next‑generation AI systems for industrial and autonomous technologies.

Anwar’s research is application‑driven and closely connected to real industrial challenges in heavy‑machine maintenance and intelligent automation. He collaborates with industry partners to develop AI‑supported solutions that improve the inspection, measurement, and assessment of mechanical components in demanding environments. His work aims to create reliable, efficient, and user‑friendly systems that support predictive maintenance and reduce manual effort in the field. His research interests include:
