Håkan Forsberg, Associate Professor, Docent, Senior Lecturer


Håkan Forsberg has the strategic responsibility for the Master of Science in Engineering Program in Dependable Systems (Civilingenjörsprogrammet i tillförlitliga system). He is also the subject teacher for Aeronautical Engineering at Mälardalen University, Västerås.

Håkan Forsberg has a M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden (1997), and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden (2003). In January 2025, he became a Docent and Associate Professor in Computer Engineering with focus on fault-tolerant systems. He is an IEEE Senior Member.

During the years 1996-2014 Håkan Forsberg worked at Saab as a specialist with development and certification of safety-critical electronics and computers. He was the hardware certification lead for several civilian projects and the COTS subgroup leader in the DO-254 Users Group, coordinating 29 companies from 11 countries. In 2013–2014 he was Saab’s representative in the International Research Committee of Aerospace Vehicle Systems Institute (AVSI).

Håkan Forsberg's main research interests include fault-tolerant systems, design assurance strategies for dependable systems, and the use of modern microcontrollers and heterogeneous architectures (highly complex COTS) in safety-critical applications. His research also includes the use of machine learning in safety-critical systems.
