The intention of NovaMedTech is to create necessary conditions for the region of eastern central Sweden to take the lead on the industrial development within new medical technologies. The initiative also aims to meet the future needs of healthcare products and services. To succeed, NovaMedTech will utilize the very good basic conditions that exist in the region in terms of business, research (in universities and colleges),advanced health care (from home care, home health care / community care to specialized care in university hospitals) and activities of stablished knowledge centers. The initiative is further strengthened by the various counties complementary strengths. To ensure the development of new products the resource focus of NovaMedTech is divided into two different product areas: medical technology for distributed care and personal health and medical technologies for image-based diagnosis and therapy. NovaMedTech further includes an arena for innovation and entrepreneurship, where we intend to use existing structures such as networks, support for innovation, incubator businesses, support of new business, seed financing, economic analysis, clinical evaluation, customized entrepreneurial training, etc.. NovaMedTech also intends to support and develop a network of actors in health care,research and companies where innovation can be captured, tested clinically, commercialized and implemented in the medical business. The goal of NovaMedTech during three-year period: 1. To build a network of healthcare, industry and research to identify new medical product ideas and to build information resources for NovaMedTech’s activities. 2. To build product development and research activities closely in the fields of medical technology for distributed care and personal health and medical technologies for image-based diagnosis and therapy. 3. To identify, develop and clinically test and commercialize new medical device ideas in medical technology for distributed care and personal health and medical technologies for image-based diagnostic and therapeutic applications with commercial potential. 4. The growth in medical technology is increasing in the region of east central Sweden. Established companies should be strengthened and new business formation.
